Jennifer Lopez asked Hispanics to donate bone marrow

Jennifer Lopez

As a Hispanic woman, Jennifer Lopez has asked America’s Hispanics to donate bone marrow to try and save the life of a woman dying from blood cancer, who hasn’t been able to find a suitable donor. Thanks to Jennifer's celebrity power, Janet Ovalles (29) is mostly likely to find a bone marrow match for her from someone of the same ethnic background even though there’s too few Hispanics on the US register of donors.

DKMS have said they hope that Jennifer Lopez's plea will prompt Hispanic donors to come forward, as the bone marrow donor centre are organizing the campaign to find her a life-saving match. A donor drive is being held on February 24th and 25th to try to find a bone marrow match for Janet.

It's been very hard to recruit Hispanic bone marrow donors, but with Jennifer's help we really feel we can get the Hispanic community on board.
- said the head of the bone marrow donor centre DKMS, Katharina Harf -

Meanwhile in other celebrity news Jennifer Lopez is about to complete Spanish language album. "Como Ama Una Mujer," will be released later this year, featuring a collection of "big ballads" written and produced by Estefano; he has produced Spanish- and English-language albums for Lopez's husband, Marc Anthony.
